A Timeline of Our Walk and Talk

Our Walk and Talks are a great way to meet fellow mums, dads, and carers of children and young people with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND).

Each month we meet in a different Haringey park and do a lap or two around the park (whatever everyone’s comfortable with). Afterwards we enjoy some coffee and cake in a nearby café (our treat).

Often we have someone from Haringey SENDIASS (SEND Information, Advice and Support Service) come along to our walk.

A timeline of where we've been so far:

November 2024

It's getting a bit chilly now, so we were all wrapped up when we visited Bruce Castle Park. We did three loops before heading to the park cafe, which is now open on Mondays. We bagged a couple of sofas and carried on chatting.

October 2024

We had a lovely walk around Priory Park! The weather held up and we had lovely sunny skies and enjoyed some hot drinks and a spot of lunch. Thank you Sabrina from the National Deaf Children's Society for joining us!

September 2024

The rain held off and we were able to enjoy a walk around both Highgate and Queen's Wood. Afterwards we have some coffee in Queen's Wood Cafe.

August 2024

As it was the summer holidays, we went to the seaside! We got two coaches to Walton-on-the-Naze and spent 5 hours there, enjoying the sun, sea, and sand. Everyone had a wonderful time, and we'll definitely return next year.

July 2024

This month we had two walks!

We went for our usual first Monday of the month walk in Down Lane Park near Tottenham Hale. We sat in a popular coffee shop (unusual for us!) and continued chatting.

On Thursday 4th July we joined WAVE Hub for their lovely community mile to Coldfall Wood! We hadn't been here before, but we'll definitely go again!

Lots of green trees in Coldfall Wood

June 2024

We always tend to have a much longer walk than usual when we visit Markfield Park. We walked along the canal and up to Walthamstow Reservoir. Afterwards we had some sandwiches at Markfield Park Cafe and a good chat.

May 2024

After a lovely sunny weekend, the sun decided not to join us for our walk around Bruce Castle Park. But at least it didn't rain! Once we finished admiring all the trees, we enjoyed some coffee and olives in a nearby cafe.

April 2024

We hadn't been to Woodside Park before now. It's a lovely and peaceful space by Earlham Primary school. Our group enjoyed a short walk before we headed to the Purple Cafe across the road.

March 2024

This month our group took a gentle yet muddy route around Ally Pally. Afterwards we sat by the lake and had some coffee and sandwiches.

February 2024

We went for a nice walk around Downhills Park, which was followed by a visit to the café for a spot of lunch.

January 2024

We had a good turn out despite it being a cold January morning - so cold it started to snow! We managed to do 2 laps around Chestnuts Park before dashing into the cafe for some hot drinks (and scrambled eggs!).

December 2023

Despite the drizzle our group walked two laps around Bruce Castle Park. We admired the Bruce Castle Oak, the oldest oak tree in Tottenham, before heading to a nearby cafe for some hot drinks and a spot of lunch.

November 2023

Stationers Park is a small yet lovely park on Mayfield Road (N8). We did about 3 laps around the park before heading to Weston Park Café for some hot drinks and sweet treats.

It's always lovely to walk around Finsbury Park, and this month was no different. Afterwards we nabbed a couple of sofas in Finsbury Park Café and enjoyed some tea and coffee.

September 2023

The weather was absolutely gorgeous when we went for our walk around Alexandra Park. After a walk in the sunshine we stopped by the Lakeside Café for some much needed cold drinks.

August 2023

This month we went to the seaside! We invited our members and their families to come along to Walton-on-the-Naze. We all had lots of fun in the sun! Click here to read more about the day

May 2023

We did a couple of laps around Down Lane Park before having some coffee in Living Under One Sun Community Hub.

It was hard to decide which park to go to, Downhills Park or Lordship Rec - so we visited both! Our group had a nice cuppa in Lordship Hub.

February 2023
